I hope he falls and LA has a shot at claiming him. Hes a free asset if the Sabres decide to grab him. I honestly cant believe he got waived. |

Is it only when a player is claimed off waivers and then re-introduced to waivers that the team that had him previously gets first crack? |

For the last time, there is only one 89 and it's....................................
MOGILNY!!!
No 89 for Conachar |

If we had a Stamkos type player on this team, sure, give him a shot. But we have noone near that type of guy on this team. |

This guy is the next Steve Sullivan. Same size. Same skill set. Same waiver drama. It would be a shame for the sabres to pass him up. Let him have a 20 game tryout to "revive" his young career. |

This is trade deadline day and the priority is to write about a potential waiver claim, not once but twice in the last two blogs. This is odd considering there could be some big trades made today. Whateva |

Why on earth wouldn't you? The glut of skilled wingers ahead of him on the depth chart? Pick him up and give him all the ice time he can handle, see what happens. |

Hearing anything interesting on the trade front Homer? Any info from your LA source about Moulson? |

Even if he's not what the Sabres need in the long run he's a free asset. Buffalo could give him an opportunity to prove his worth as a top 6 scoring winger and then trade him. |

I'd take him if no other reason no one from my undergrad school has ever played for the Sabres But, you are right he is a free asset and if he pans out, great. No risk, substantial reward potential. |

My gut says the Wild makes another to try to get better. I do hear the Wild has had ongoing discussions with Buffalo about Drew Stafford, Jason Pominville's former teammate and Zach Parise's teammate from Shattuck-St. Mary's and North Dakota.

We're gonna need at least one top9 guy next year if we don't wanna bring up "the kids"
Why not give him a shot?
1) we gave Omark one
2) he's been a decent scorer more recent then D'Agostini
3) costs us nothing
I really don't see the downside
Why not? |

I'd give him a shot as he costs you zero assets. He's at least a top 9 winger. Something that is needed with Moulson, Stewart, and/or Stafford on the move. |

Agreed, there's not much downside this. Better we replace one of those guys with Conacher than call up one of the kids and feed'em to the wolves. |

i'm still confused why he was waived.....but what's done is done
he's a good little player. he's never gonna be a top six guy, that production last year was simply a result of playing with stamkos and st louis
that being said, he'll be a good bottom six guy, solid on the forecheck, plays hard, got a little "a-hole" streak to him (like gallagher or marchand), draws lots of penalties, and can occasionally put up some points.
i thought it was a terrible move to waive him, as there are AT LEAST 2 forwards i would have dumped before him (kassian and greening). sadly, i think this was a budget move more than a hockey move. they knew he'd get claimed, so they wouldn't have to pay his nhl salary in teh ahl |
